What Bot Hunter does
- Flags requests for known scanner paths (for example
/wp-login.php,/xmlrpc.php,/.env) and answers them with HTTP 403. - Blocks known bad user-agents automatically.
- Keeps a local log of what it blocked so you can review it.
Bot Hunter reduces automated junk traffic. It is not a firewall replacement and not a security guarantee.

- The free Node.js 18 or newer from nodejs.org. The installer checks for Node and tells you if it is missing.
- A website to protect. Bot Hunter runs in front of your site: visitors reach Bot Hunter on a port you choose, and it passes good traffic on to your site's local address.
- The claim token from your purchase email (the installer asks for it).

Bot Hunter license terms
This software is licensed, not sold.
1. License grant
When your payment clears, SquiresCanCode LLC grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and run Bot Hunter for the length of the license you bought.
2. One machine or one site
Each license covers one machine, bound to that machine's fingerprint, protecting one website. To move to a new PC, contact support. We re-issue a license for the new machine (a reactivation file only, no reinstall).
3. License length
Your license file states when it was issued and when it expires. The term only moves forward when we issue a new license. Rewinding the system clock to stretch a term locks the software until a reactivation license is applied.
4. One-time payment, no subscription
Every purchase is a single, customer-started Stripe payment. There are no subscriptions, no automatic renewals and no free trial or free usage period.
5. Acceptable use
Use Bot Hunter only on machines and websites you own or are authorized to manage. Do not use it to attack, scan or disrupt anyone else's systems. You may not copy, sell, sublicense, rent, lease or distribute the software, and you may not bypass its copy protection. Breaking these rules ends your license.
6. Refunds
Software is delivered as a download. All sales are final and non-refundable, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
7. No warranty
Bot Hunter is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. It can miss some bots and can block some legitimate visitors. You are responsible for reviewing its settings and logs.
8. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SquiresCanCode LLC accepts no liability for any damages arising from the use of Bot Hunter. If liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the license.
9. Other terms
These terms sit alongside the site Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Contact SquiresCanCode LLC at [email protected] for renewals, reactivation or questions.
